Kurt, The Blessing of Nomads
Kurt is a dried salty quark/cheese.
Nomads used this way of conservation of it for centuries.
It lasts for months and is a great and light source of nutrition for long quests through the deserts and steppes...
It is produced in central Asia until today, as it is used for cooking and as a tasty snack (it goes well with beer :-) ). The main milk used for kurt production is the cow milk, but goat and camel milk is used locally too.
